A web game one person makes and fixes every day. The seller of the keepsake pass is Link, run by Stripe; seller details and payment terms are shown at checkout and on your receipt.
2. The game
- The game is free, with no accounts and no ads. Paying never changes a life in the game.
- The stories are fiction built on real statistics. They are not medical, legal or financial advice.
- Game records are kept only on your device (browser storage). They can disappear if you clear the site data or your browser runs out of space.
- Support through Ko-fi is a gift with nothing in return. If you sent it by mistake, write to customerservice@1in8b.life and we will send it back.
- Shared lives are public, and posts that hurt others may be taken down.
3. The keepsake pass
The keepsake pass is not on sale yet. Sections 3 to 5 apply once it is.
- What you get. For any life kept in this browser's past lives you can make a life film (a vertical video under a minute) and a life album (a book to print or save as PDF), and put up to 3 memorials (public pages anyone can visit). Films and albums are made on your device.
- Price. You choose what to pay, from $3 (Korean page: 4,000원). Taxes, where they apply in your country, are shown at checkout. Buying again with the same email adds 3 more memorials.
- Seller and payment. Payment is handled by Link, run by Stripe (Sold through Link), as merchant of record: Link takes care of payment, taxes, receipts and payment questions, and your statement shows a name starting with "LINK.COM*". Questions about the pass itself and how to use it come to us.
- Who can buy it. Under Link's terms the payment must be made by an adult. Minors should ask a parent or guardian to pay.
- When it works. The pass opens on this device as soon as payment is done. On another device or browser, type the email you paid with. Our server never stores email addresses; it only compares a one-way hash (payment records stay with Link and in the operator's Stripe account).
- Good to know. In-app browsers (KakaoTalk, Threads, Instagram) cannot save videos or PDFs, so you carry the life to Safari or Chrome to make them. Past lives are kept per browser. Lives that ended before pictures were kept (before v0.4.60) get words without pictures. The last moments a film shows are free for everyone, once, when a life ends.
- Memorials. A memorial is for a life lived in the game, and it is public. Words that hurt others, contact details and anything that identifies a real person are filtered out, and we may take down a memorial that contains them. Memorials stay up for as long as the service runs, and you can take yours down any time from the device that made it: it is deleted and its place comes back.
- Money and the game. The pass never changes a life in the game. Without it the game is exactly the same.
4. Refunds
- Before you pay, we ask you to agree that once you make anything with the pass (a film, an album or a memorial) it has started, and that you then lose the right to cancel for a change of mind.
- Within 14 days of payment, if you have not made anything with the pass yet (a film, an album or a memorial), we refund in full, no questions asked. Just opening the pass, or only carrying a life to another browser, does not count as using it.
- After you have started using it, we still refund when: it does not work for a technical reason we cannot fix, it is not as described, you paid twice for the same thing by mistake, or a minor bought it without a parent or guardian's permission.
- If the law where you paid, or Link's refund policy, gives you wider rights, those rights apply.
- To ask for a refund, write to customerservice@1in8b.life with the email you paid with and the date. We reply within 7 days. You can also ask Link support from your receipt email.
- After a refund (or a payment reversed through a card dispute) the pass can no longer make anything new. Films and album files already saved, and memorials already up, stay as they are.
5. If the service changes or ends
If what the pass offers is reduced or the service has to end, we announce it on the first screen and in the update notes at least 30 days before. If the service ends, passes bought in the 90 days before are refunded on request. Films and albums you saved stay on your device.
6. Minors
Children under 14 should not use the features that keep personal information (shared lives, feedback, the keepsake pass). The keepsake pass must be paid for by an adult; minors should ask a parent or guardian to pay. If a minor paid without permission, tell us and we will refund it.
7. Changes
If these terms change, we announce it on this page and in the update notes at least 7 days before, or 30 days before if the change is to your disadvantage.
